My Review: I have to admit that I initially became interested in this book due to the repeated references to this book being “The Next Harry Potter.” This type of marketing always seems to resonate with me when it refers to a book or product that I really love. So once I heard these references, The Night Circus was instantly on my TBL pile. Then I learned that Jim Dale was narrating the audio version. This news further enhanced the feeling that I just had to listen to this audiobook.

The Night Circus immediately snared me with it’s dense magical atmosphere. Jim Dale’s narration paired with Erin Morgenstern’s incredible writing resulted in an audiobook experience that completely captivated me.

However, while the book was certainly magical and engrossing it didn’t really have the “fierce” magical competition that I was expecting. This one small failing was easily forgiven as I found myself lost in the mystery and magic of the circus.

Audio Production: Jim Dale’s narration is incredible and perfectly sets the mood for this magical fantasy.  If you are like me and you have spent hours upon hours listening to Jim Dale’s narration of the Harry Potter series, then you will certainly feel very comfortable sinking into the world of The Night Circus. Dale’s narration is engaging and thick with magical ambiance that insulates the listener from the mundane day to day world.

Overall: I really enjoyed The Night Circus. It lives up to the hype and delivered a wonderfully imaginative magical experience.
