Audiobook Review:
The looming Halloween season has me wanting to listen to as many scary audiobooks as I can find. I decided to start off with the Psycho.
Many years ago I watched the classic movie, but I had never actually read the book. Typically when I happen to see the movie first I just don’t bother investing the time on the book. However, after I listened to a sample of the audiobook I just couldn’t pass it up.
The book was actually a lot better than I had hoped. Of course, I’m sure I would have enjoyed it a lot more if I didn’t already know the secrets of the Bates motel. However, there were still a lot of great chills and suspense in store for me.
Audio Production: Paul Michael Garcia was outstanding. His performance really amped up the suspense and kept me engaged throughout the entire book. Several times he managed to send chills down my spine.
Overall: I am very happy that I took the time to enjoy this book. It was short, sweet and creepy as hell. The one thing I might have done differently.. I might not have listened to the end of this book while cleaning out my basement. It started to feel a little too much like the fruit cellar in Bates house for my comfort.
Psycho is certainly worth a listen during this Halloween season.

Disclosure: I borrowed this audiobook from my local library.
I’m starting this one today! I’m glad to hear the narrator “hit it!” I also got the movie to watch after I’m done. Believe it or not, I’ve never seen it! I’ve only seen the ubiquitous shower scene!
