Publisher’s Summary: From debut author Cassie Alexander comes a spectacular new urban fantasy series where working the night shift can be a real nightmare.
Nursing school prepared Edie Spence for a lot of things. Burn victims? No problem. Severed limbs? Piece of cake. Vampires? No way in hell. But as the newest nurse on Y4, the secret ward hidden in the bowels of County Hospital, Edie has her hands full with every paranormal patient you can imagine – from vamps and were-things to zombies and beyond.
Edie’s just trying to learn the ropes so she can get through her latest shift unscathed. But when a vampire servant turns to dust under her watch, all hell breaks loose. Now she’s haunted by the man’s dying words – Save Anna – and before she knows it she’s on a mission to rescue some poor girl from the undead – which involves crashing a vampire den, falling for a zombie, and fighting for her soul. Grey’s Anatomy was never like this.
In addition to being a writer, Cassie Alexander is an active registered nurse in California. Nightshifted is her debut novel.

My Review: Nightshifted is the debut novel for author Cassie Alexander and is the first in a trilogy focusing on her main character, Edie Spence. Edie is a nurse who’s still known as “new girl” on a hidden hospital floor called “Y4”.
Y4 isn’t for your average patient; it’s full of vampires, shape-shifters, werewolves, zombies and other strange beings. During the majority of the audiobook, Edie’s life was in danger. The story is very fast paced and packed with great characters.
Edie knows she’ll never get rich working the night shift at Y4, but she’s happy-for the most part. She’s still got the danger part of her job to deal with, a drug addict for a brother and a few guys that might fight for her affection.
Alexander really impressed me with Nighshifted! I was captivated from the first chapter by the story and characters. I’m still not sure what kind of creature or being Meaty is, but I love the name. Edie and Ti have such great chemistry, I can’t wait to see what happens to him in book two!
Great, great listen. I’d give it 10 stars if I had more! I finished this audiobook in record time because I couldn’t put it down. Bravo Alexander!
Now, we wait for book two, Moonshifted, is set to be released in November, 2012.
Narrator Review: Since I’m familiar with Tai Sammons’ work, I was eager to jump into this audiobook. Sammons gave another great performance in Nightshifted and managed to make a mangled zombie sound believable. She’s amazing at being consistent with voices and flowing easily between characters.
Disclosure: I received a copy of this audiobook from the publisher.
