My review: Jitters: A Quirky Little Audiobook was hilarious. “Shock Jock” Nancy Neptune is forced to relocate to Navel, Utah where she’ll be the station producer for 95.3 The Orange. Little did she know, Navel was pretty darn close to polygamy headquarters, Zion Flats.
Nancy manages to shake up the town with her spicy one liner promotions on air and community gatherings she hosts for the station. Soon after her arrival in town, she’s joined by former investigative reporter, Sandy. Sandy is free labor and that’s the kind Nancy likes best! She sticks her on the agriculture report and dubs her “Crop Chick”.
Overall, this audiobook kept my attention from start to finish. Park does a great job of adding humor into the story and giving each character an A+ personality. The news broadcast updates at the beginning of each chapter really helped tie this story together.
This audiobook should be on the hot list! Super funny and inventive on Adele Park’s part. With the drama that is TLC’s Sister Wives, you hear more about polygamy than normal and the drama in this audiobook will keep you wrapped up completely.
Narrator Review: Until now, I owned virgin ears to the multi-narrator scenario. Each chapter in this audiobook was devoted to a single character and one narrator voice. My favorite was Nancy Neptune, voiced by Susan Paige Lane. I loved Nancy’s accent and Susan’s portrayal of her. The most difficult character to voice? Definitely Laryl, voiced by John Gibson. Since Laryl is a mentally challenged man, I was worried the narration might be condescending. Thankfully, John did a wonderful job!
