My Review: Hot dogs, cross-dressers, barbecue sauce, murders and burglars. Finger Lickin’ Fifteen is a mess… but a great one! Stephanie Plum, a lingerie buyer turned bounty hunter is at it again in the fifteenth installment of Janet Evanovich’s series. Stephanie is off-again with her sometimes boyfriend and cop Joe Morelli and her life is strange as usual.
After a phone call from Ranger, Stephanie’s bounty hunting mentor and the man in black, she takes a job helping him dig into a big problem at his security business. Burglaries are occurring at his secure locations and they have to be stopped, NOW! That’s where Stephanie comes in, unexpected and undetected by the other employees. Ranger is confident the perp is on the inside but who is the burglar… Tank? Ramone? Hal? And why would someone want to ruin Ranger? He’s a great boss and most of these guys couldn’t ask for more. Plus, who wants Fabergé eggs?
Things turn into a sticky mess when Lula is the only eyewitness to a brutal murder. The only cop she’ll talk to is Morelli, because cops “give her the runs”. Lula is such a great character. When we first met her she was a hooker and Stephanie was bribing her for information. After a near death experience, she had a career change and now does the filing at the bail bonds office and more frequently rides shotgun with Stephanie.
The murders are on the run and Stephanie, Morelli, Lula and Grandma Mazur on the case. If you’re not familiar with this series, it’s amazing. Evanovich has created such spunky characters and they all have such different personalities. After you read a few, you feel like you know the characters and you know how they’ll react. That’s just one of the many, many things I love about this series.
Honestly, I’m starting to worry… I’ve completed audiobook #15 in the series and I only have two more! Number 18 doesn’t release until November so I’ll have a little Stephanie withdraw. Hmphf…. good thing I can listen to these over and over and still love them just as much!
Narrator Review: There aren’t enough words in the English dictionary to continue to talk about Lorelei King in a positive way, I’ve used them all. If you’ve read my other reviews, you know she’s my favorite. I love her timing, distinction and consistent voices for the characters and the humor they add to the story. I do love to read, but I can’t imagine this series without Lorelei reading it to me. Such amazing talent.
Thank you so much for the kind words and the encouragement! :o) x Lorelei
