My Review: Dead by Morning is book two in Beverly Barton’s Dead by Trilogy and was loaded with suspense. Barton leads the listener through a rough ride of vicious murders and the psychological turmoil a sadistic killer has on it’s victim’s families.
Once again, Maleah Perdue and Derek Lawrence are paired up and this time they’re set out to tackle the person murdering Powell Security Agents and their families. The relationship between Maleah and Derek is great and you can feel the sexual tension grow between the two. Their boss, Griffin Powell, sends them on the winding trail that lands them face to face with a serial killer that tests Maleah’s fragile spirit. He forces her to delve into her past and dig up the skeletons that have haunted her since childhood.
As the two private detectives unravel the clues, the killer continues to strike. The hardest hit to the Powell Agency comes when the safety of Griffin’s Rest is crushed and someone is kidnapped.
Dead by Morning kept me on my toes and asking for more during the entire audiobook. Barton’s superb writing technique never gave away the killer’s true identity and the ending was such a cliffhanger! Aghh! I can’t wait to start book three!! I need to know what happens to Nic and the relationship between Derek and Maleah!
Narrator Review: Karen White gave another great performance in Dead by Morning. It’s unreal how she can keep all of the character’s voices cohesive throughout the audiobook. This woman has some serious talent and I look forward to listening to more of her work.
